Beginner Birding @ Lalbagh

Today we observed 91 birds of 28 different species, all near where we live in Lalbagh Botanical Park, Bangalore. We never imagined that we could get so many species of birds in the middle of a metropolitan city. Unfortunately, cameras were not allowed, and we could not take any pictures of the birds we spotted.

This is a checklist we created of the birds we found: https://ebird.org/checklist/S83362497

We saw many beautiful birds like the Purple Swamphen, Purple Heron, Rose Ringed Parakeet and Golden Oriole(Male, Female and Juvenile). We also saw a few rare birds including the migratory Clamorous Reed Warbler, Black Naped Monarch and a female Indian Paradise-Flycatcher.

Lalbagh is an ideal spot for beginners looking to start their birding journey. There are many bird groups who regularly visit places like Lalbagh every week and help people hone their bird-spotting skills, even if they live in urban areas like Bangalore.
