During the nest survey of Madiwala Lake last month, we suddenly noticed a head of a bird bobbing up and down strangely. On closer look, it looked to be a Greater Cormorant in distress.
As we approached it, we noticed that it was caught in some abandoned fishing nets.
The boatman reached out to it and started ripping off the nets from its legs and wings. It was very saddening to see the bird in distress but finally it was free and swam away.
